LAKE OCONEE — Halcyon Hospice is looking for volunteers to provide companionship and socialization to terminally ill patients and their caregivers. STMA and The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton present “Mothers and Children: Beyond Sentiment.” This show features a collection of paintings depicting the theme of mother and child. The show is located at The Plaza Arts Center, 305 N. Madison Ave., Eatonton.

Reynolds Plantation has opened their seasonal ice skating rink. Access to the rink is complimentary for resort guests, $40 per four-hour session for adults, $30 per four-hour session per child (12 and under). The prince includes a skate rental.

In order to meet the deadlines below, the Greene County Christmas Stocking Fund needs to start planning now. They had a great team of volunteers last year and hope more members of the community will be able to work to support this cause again this year.

Volunteers are needed for the dates below.

December 11 -- Initial toy sorting and counting.

December 14 -- Pack toys.

December 18 -- (9 a.m. - 2 p.m.) Distribution at Senior Center (seniors gifts only).

December 18 – (5 p.m. to 6 p.m.) Loading at the County Annex building.

December 19 -- (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.) Distribution of Toys and clothes for children at Greene County High School.

The Madison Artists Guild hosts their first “MAG Holiday Market” at the Cottage in Town Park, 248 W Jefferson St., Madison. There will be unique gifts, artwork and seasonal stocking stuffers. The market will be open: Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The LifeSource Food and Toy Distribution Program, sponsored by the Putnam County Charter School System, will be held at 10 a.m. in the Putnam County Elementary School Gym. Any disabled resident who has already registered and would like to designate someone to get his or her food distribution must give that person signed authorization to do so. Santa and Mrs. Claus, assisted by student elves, will be present to distribute toys for the children of those who receive a food distribution. ORHS representatives will provide Christmas pet food and signups for spaying/neutering services.
