Spring planting is just around the corner

Spring is just around the corner. It’s a good time to time to consider where you will start your spring planting. Think about which area to concentrate on first, whether it should be the patio area, additional planting beds, foundation plantings, or adding more ornamental or flowering trees. To achieve your goals, develop a plan and follow it.

The first thing is to visit the garden center to check out the available plants, whether flowering, grassy, evergreen, perennials or annuals. Decide which plants you would like to see in your landscape and then see if they will fit your plan. If you are not sure what to do have a professional design the areas for you. A good idea for accomplishing a good design is to take pictures of the desired plant material, carry them home and use the picture to visualize the plant in your landscape. Don’t hesitate to ask a qualified garden center professional for advice. They can show you all the options available to you and really put your mind at ease when choosing plant materials. You will get great satisfaction when then job is done, knowing you did it and that the result is pleasing to the eye.

As a reminder, with warm weather now arriving, it is the time to spread pre-emergence before grassy weeds germinate. Once the grassy weeds have germinated they become hard to control. Try Pennington Crabgrass pre-emergence with Balan. It is also time to put out lime if you have acidic conditions in your soil.
