LAKE OCONEE — The Harbor Club Ladies Golf Association sponsored The Pink Ribbon Golf Tournament on Oct. 18 to aid The Lydia Project Cancer Center in Augusta. The event raised over $2100 for the cause.
Committee members Debbie Burns, Millicent Zamirowski, Jane Preston, Debbie Puppe and Linda VanDuzer planned the format and the day’s events. At tournaments end, the players and guests celebrated with a luncheon in the everything pink decorated, clubroom.
Carol Gordon, Karin Flaig, Karen Gould and Linda Weaver won top honors for a first place finish. Karen Gould hit the longest drive while Terry Subacz had the most accurate drive. Closest to the Pin winners were: Marie Madsen on hole 2, Ellie Davis on hole 6, Sherry Stathas on hole 12 and Millicent Zamirowsi on hole 17.
After the luncheon the ladies gathered the pink and white balloons decorating the ceiling and took them out to the patio where they released them into the sky in remembrance of friends and loved ones lost to breast cancer.
