Get into the holiday spirit and gather up some holiday decorating ideas this weekend at the 2008 Heritage Holiday Tour of Homes in historic Madison.

Sponsored biennially by the Friends of Heritage Hall and Morgan County Historical Society, the event will feature day tours as well as candlelight tours.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, day tours will be given of nine different historic and private homes, some of which are not normally open to the public, in Madison.

In addition to the day tours, the event also features candlelight tours from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Most of the homes on the tour are located in the heart of Madison in the historic district.

Madison lays claim to the largest collection of 19th century architecture in the entire state of Georgia, but be sure soak up the festive downtown atmosphere while visiting, and enjoy the holiday treats of one of Madison’s many restaurants and sweet shops.

Madison also boasts an array of antique and specialty stores that are perfect for marking off some names on any holiday shopping list.

Tickets for the tours are $25 and there are special rates for groups of 10 or more.
