Noble, Weaver named Rotary Student and Teacher of the Month

Greene County High School Senior, A’shuntae Noble, daughter of Willie and Letarcia Smith, was recently honored as Rotary Student of the Month.

Noble’s academic and extracurricular accomplishments include achieving high grades and participating in sports. Additionally she participates in the community by sitting with the elderly. Upon graduation, Noble plans to attend Georgia College and major in early childhood education.

Ava Weaver was honored as Rotary Teacher of the Month. Weaver is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she obtained a BS in education and math, and Troy State University, where she obtained a master’s in education and leadership. She has taught seven years of which four have been at Greene County High School. She teaches Algebra II, trigonometry, geometry and calculus.

Additionally she serves as senior class advisor, prom advisor, serves as a graduation committee member and is the department chair. Her community service includes involvement in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Springfield Baptist Church.

Rotarian Alex Falanga presented certificates to Noble and Weaver, which acknowledged their selection as Rotary Club Student and Teacher of the Month.

Additionally he stated: “The Rotary Club Student and Teacher of the Month is one of the most significant programs our Rotary Club has. This recognition provides an opportunity for the Rotary Club to acknowledge the best students in our community and a chance to meet our future leaders.
