Community National Day of Prayer program set

Across America, plans are being made for a National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 7.
At Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, in conjunction with other churches in the area, ministers and like-minded believers will host a special prayer service from noon to 1 p.m. The church will open its doors from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for anyone in the community to come into the sanctuary for individual or group prayers.
The noon program will include local pastors from many denominations and lay leaders who will pray for community nation, military and economy as well as other issues. Following the service, a sack lunch and drink will be provided to each attendee. The lunch includes a sandwich from the Chick-fil-A in Madison. Also, babysitting will be available during the service.
The 2009 Honorary Chairman of National Day of Prayer Task Force is Beth Moore, founder of Living Proof Ministries. She focuses on teaching women how to love and live in God’s Word. She says, “We need to be able to comprehend, as a generation of people, that the nation our great-grandchildren will occupy will be, in many ways, a direct result of our prayers and our pursuit of God today. When we sit back and think, ‘I have no impact, I have no power, I’m just at the mercy of my circumstances and the circumstances of this nation’ that is deceit. God has told us that we can impact our generation and generations to come.”
Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church is located at 113 Scott Road, just off Highway 44 near the Greene and Putnam County line. For more information, please call (706) 484-0600.
