The City of Greensboro and the Greensboro Better Hometown organization want to invite residents and visitors to another entertaining afternoon in their Greensboro Saturday series.

This Saturday, June 20, downtown Greensboro will be made over as an outdoor café, complete with enticing entrées and appetizers from guest restaurant Borage Grill of Conyers and the syncopated sounds of local duo JazzMind, as community members come together to host Café Saturday.

Since 2004, the annual Café Saturday collaboration between Greensboro Better Hometown and the local Merchants Association has drawn people downtown for one of the Greensboro Saturday series’ most popular events.

“Café Saturday brings a lot of people downtown,” Better Hometown Manager Cail Hammons said. “We see a lot of couples and families come out to experience the enhanced atmosphere created when we invite live musicians and a guest restaurant to reimagine our downtown as an outdoor café.”

This year’s guest restaurant, Borage Grill, will bring a taste of the Mediterranean with their eastern influenced menu of grilled kabobs, wraps and ethnic Mediterranean pizzas. Check them out at www.boragegrill.com.

This delectable dining experience will be matched by the smooth sounds of local musicians Mike Jarrad and Elton Parks who have become summertime favorites when they join forces as JazzMind.

“JazzMind is such a fun part of the Café Saturday atmosphere,” Hammons said. “We are thrilled that they will be playing the favorites in downtown Greensboro again this year!”

And don’t miss out on beach blanket bingo on the courthouse lawn throughout the day. Bingo cards are free and rounds start on the hour between noon and 3 p.m. Beach blanket bingo is provided by the Greensboro Business Association.

In July, the Greensboro Saturday series will continue with the dog-friendly Dog Days of Summer event to benefit the American Cancer Society. Greensboro residents are invited to bring their four-legged friends out for this summer evening event, which will feature a Bark For Life mini relay fundraiser to bring together residents and their K9 companions to raise funds for a good cause.
