The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties has inducted Jim Chamberlin into the Club.
As part of the new member induction ceremony, Rotary President, Laura Dent, offered the following introductory comments: “Rotary is an extraordinary organization composed of a family of ordinary people. We are professionals, business men and women who stand for the advancement of understanding, good will and international peace through a fellowship, united in the idea of service. As Rotarians, we address humanitarian and educational needs in our own community and throughout the world. Those individuals approved for membership in Rotary are believed to be a worthy representative of their profession, interested in the ideals of Rotary and willing to do their part in translating them into tangible realities.”
Chamberlin was sponsored by Rotarian Kimberly Hoffman for membership into the Rotary Club and is certainly a worthy representative of his profession. He has recently joined Cowles Clinic as their COO and brings over 20 years experience in the healthcare industry. As the chief operating officer, he is responsible for the day to day operations as well as marketing for the Clinic. He was president and co-founder of Specialty Surgicenters Inc. (SSI), an Atlanta based corporation that developed and managed ambulatory surgery centers and lithotripsy centers. The projects were joint venture partnerships with physician’s owners, hospitals and SSI as the corporate/management partner. Chamberlin was responsible for all phases of SSI’s operations, including physician’s recruitment, hospital relations, marketing and the day to day operations of their 12 facilities.
Chamberlin joined the Navy in 1964 and was assigned to a Naval Air Squadron VAW-13, whose mission was to jam surface to air missile sites off the coast of Viet Nam. He served two tours in Viet Nam.
He and his wife Anne have been married for 30 years and are in the process of moving from Roswell to the lake. They have two daughters and a son and are extremely proud of their children’s accomplishments: Taylor, a UGA graduate and a practicing attorney in Atlanta; Nicole, a Valdosta State graduate with a master in speech communication disorders; and Matthew, a UGA graduate with a degree in business and marketing.
