The Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) and Lake Oconee Village, with support from MCG Medical Associates, present a VILLAGE Concert featuring The Waybacks on Friday, July 24 at 8 p.m. The VILLAGE Concert is the second event in the VILLAGE Series, a collection of six complimentary performances and festivities on and around the Village Meadow and Pond at Lake Oconee Village.

The series kicked off with the VILLAGE Dance on June 27. Lake Oconee Village was transformed into the charming era of the 1940s with colored lights strung from pole to pole, dance lessons and the big band sounds of Tony Winston and the Mondo Swing Orchestra. Hundreds of people enjoyed this wonderful evening under the stars.

The VILLAGE Concert featuring a live musical performance by The Waybacks is next in the series. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay area, the band’s repertoire touches on Memphis soul, honky-tonk, Parisian swing, classical music, vintage blue pop, full-tilt roadhouse boogie and more. The Waybacks, whose unique style has come to be known as “Americana,” feature virtuosos James Nash and Warren Hood. Arrive early, picnic and enjoy the Village Meadow and experience a performance like no other.

The VILLAGE Concert will have food and refreshments provided by Amici Italian Café, El Chaparro Tex-Mex Cantina and Spotlight Theatres. Filet Steak and Seafood is offering a picnic dinner packed “to go” to be enjoyed during the festivities. Raffle tickets for a chance to win a SeaDoo GTI will be available with the drawing held at the final series event, the VILLAGE Holiday Fair and Jingle Bell Run on November 28. A special drawing for additional prizes will be held at each event.

Reserved cabaret-style seating is available for $20 per chair and general admission seating is $10 per chair.
