Annie and Cheryl Tabler visit Pilot Club

Pilot Club members received first hand knowledge of traumatic brain injuries from Annie Tabler and her mother, Cheryl. The vision of Pilot International is “to achieve universal awareness and prevention of Brain-Related Disorders and Disabilities.”
What better way to increase our knowledge of traumatic brain injuries and become more aware of the difficulties for patients and family members than to hear it from someone who has survived the ordeal. Annie received a life threatening brain injury in a single car accident in June 2008. She and Cheryl related her journey through multiple surgeries, therapy and above all God’s intervention in her recovery.
Annie’s determination and hard work during these months of recovery is indeed an inspiration.
A signature project of Pilot International is BrainMinders™, which focuses on traumatic brain injury and brain disorders. The project encompasses a public service campaign designed to promote brain awareness; prevention education programs for children and adults; workshop and speakers bureau materials; a partnership with Project Lifesaver, a tracking program; and support for brain-related programs. The BrainMinder Buddies™ promotes injury prevention with young children through a puppet show presented to kindergarten students in local schools.
To become involved with a wonderful group of women and promote awareness and prevention of Brain-Related Disorders please visit the Pilot Club of Greene County and learn more about our local projects. The next meeting will be on Sept. 21 at the First United Methodist Family Life Center at 6:30 p.m. For more information please contact President Sherley Selman at (706) 486-4128 or cselman@windstream.net.
