Do you have elderly parents or other family members with health issues? If so, you may want to attend a seminar on “Understanding the Needs of Elderly Family Members” which will begin at 6 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 22. A keynote speaker for the evening is Teepa Snow, a nationally acclaimed expert on dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Other presenters will include: Sharon Conley, Arbor Terrace, who will discuss levels of care, payor sources (Medicaid, Medicare, VA, etc.), living wills, health care powers of attorney and other important issues; Chaplain Hugh Minor, VistaCare, who will discuss spiritual and social needs of elderly; and Dr. Joe King, senior pastor, Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, who will discuss comfort, peace of mind and salvation for the elderly. A light supper will be served at 6 p.m. The seminar is open to the community. Please contact LOPC to reserve a place that evening. Walker Methodist Church will hold four revival dates Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30 beginning at 7 p.m. District Superintendent the Rev. Gary Dean will preach on Sept. 9, the Rev. Ed Nelson will preach on Sept. 16 and the Rev. Coy Hinton will preach on Sept. 23. On Sept. 30 the revival message will be presented in song by the well-known New Apostles Quartet. There will be a vespers service on Sept. 20 in the church pavilion beginning at 7 p.m. Walker Church’s the Rev. John Pike will preach the regular Sunday services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Music Director Donna Kicklighter and Pianist Sally Pike will lead the Walker Church singers in inspirational gospel singing throughout the month.
