The community is invited to “Tailgate at The Tavern” on Oct. 5 to benefit Redeemer Episcopal Academy. A portion of all proceeds from the Monday Night Football event at The Tavern, off Lake Oconee Parkway, will be donated to the school. Doors open at 5 p.m., so come early and score big with raffles, games and a silent auction being held before kick-off. Redeemer Episcopal Academy invites the community to its “Oktoberfest” at Cuscowilla from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Oct. 10. The event will feature live music by the Bavarian Express, authentic German fare and an array of fine German lagers and ales. Limited tickets are now available for $75. The Stephen Thomas Museum announces the following upcoming workshops: Oct. 10: Heads Up – Create paper hats inspired by Tyrolean doll paintings by Steffen Thomas. A STMA Family Workshop. 10 a.m. to noon. Taught by practicing Georgia artists, Barbara Kimbrough and Joanna Ralston. The Union Junction Jamboree is back for its fourth year in historic downtown Union Point. A full slate of activities are on tap again this year including a fun zone for the kids, arts and crafts vendors, a bike ride, additional performances of the riveting and fun “Firefly on the Lick” written by Jan Whylson, Greene County’s own poet, a fabulous food court and lots more. Lake Oconee Landscape Association has formed to promote professionalism in the green industry, in the lake country. All members of LOLA are required to be licensed, insured and reputable. LOLA members provides services such as; landscape installation, maintenance, lawn and shrub fertilization, weed control, garden centers, all your outdoor needs. Green County Toastmasters announces its new summer schedule commencing in July. The meeting schedule is changing to meeting on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month for July, August and September. The meeting is heldin the fellowship building next to the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro startingat 6 p.m. Toastmasters is an international organization with the mission to assist members in communication skills and techniques. Lake Oconee area M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Preschoolers Support), serving Morgan, Greene, Putnam and Hancock counties, meets every 3rd Tuesday (August-May) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Lake Oconee Lutheran Church. Childcare provided. The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition – Georgia Chapter will host “Hearts of Teal” the last Tuesday of each month. Survivors of all gynecologic cancers are warmly invited to join us. Survivors, both new and long-term, will find understanding, care, and even laughter to enrich your journey. Family and friends are welcomed to attend with survivors.
