Tri-County EMC teams to fight hunger

Tri-County employees have teamed with Georgia’s Electric Membership Corps., Oglethorpe Power Corp., Georgia Transmission Corp. and Georgia System Operations Corp. employees to fight hunger statewide through Hands on Georgia (HOGA) — a 2004 initiative launched by Gov. Sonny Perdue. Just drop off your nonperishable foods at Tri-County EMC, 112 Recreation Road in Eatonton or at 310 W. Clinton St. in Gray by Oct. 9.

The donated goods will feed local families who are struggling due to record unemployment levels. Last year, more than 68,000 Georgians, including electric cooperative employees, helped others through HOGA projects by working with wheel-chair-ramp construction, playground builds, tutoring sessions and more while carrying out the cooperative seventh guiding principle: “Concern for Community.” To learn more, visit tri-countyemc.com or handsongeorgia.org.

Tri-County EMC is a consumer-owned cooperative providing electricity and related services to approximately 16,500 members in Baldwin, Bibb, Jasper, Jones, Morgan, Putnam, Twiggs and Wilkinson counties. Through this statewide network, the 42 customer-owned EMCs provide electricity and related services to 3.7 million people across 73 percent of the state’s land area.
