The Eatonton Arts Alliance, in conjunction with the Briar Patch Arts Festival, is hosting “Treasures – A Celebration of the Arts” Friday, Oct. 30 and “Treasures – Appraisals by the Experts” Saturday, Oct. 31. Both events are being held at The Plaza Arts Center, 305 N Madison Ave, Eatonton. Treasures is the community kick-off event for the Eatonton Arts Alliance, a non-profit dedicated to expanding the visual arts and arts education in Georgia’s lake country. Local artists are invited to display pieces of their artwork during the two day event. Friday’s Celebration of the Arts program features Debra Freer, ISA from Atlanta discussing the art of appraisals and the fun of discovering those Antiques Roadshow treasures. Saturday, October 31 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., “Treasures – Appraisals by the Experts” co-sponsored by the Eatonton Arts Alliance and E-PAF offers Briar Patch Arts Festival goers an opportunity to bring in art and antiques for appraisal. Numerous specialty appraisers are donating their time and expertise in providing historical information and verbal appraisals of items ranging from paintings, silver, cut glass, clocks, furniture and

jewelry. Tickets are $15 for two items ($10 for additional items) and will be available at the door or in advance by calling (706) 453-2868.

Mark the date for Saturday Oct. 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gary’s Garden Center for one of Lake Oconee’s finest events. Taste more than 50 different wines from around the world at Gary’s Garden Center on Oct. 24 at the wine tasting festival in the garden fundraiser benefitting St. Joseph’s Hospital. The Oconee Cellar and Gary’s Garden are offering a great opportunity for you to taste all kinds of wines at $20/ticket. Not only will there be lots of wine to taste, there will be some great food and live Jazz Music. You can find a couple of wines you may love and other wines you always wanted to try. The last sold out event was attended by over 250 people and $1,500 was raised for St. Joseph Hospital. The goal is to raise over $3,000 at this event so stop in at The Oconee Cellar next to Publix or at Garys to purchase your tickets. Last time the event sold out, so buy your tickets today and support St. Joseph Hospital and have fun at the same time! Tickets will be available at the door for $25 if available.

Lake Oconee Landscape Association has formed to promote professionalism in the green industry, in the lake country. All members of LOLA are required to be licensed, insured and reputable. LOLA members provides services such as; landscape installation, maintenance, lawn and shrub fertilization, weed control, garden centers, all your outdoor needs. The Greene County Toastmasters Club invites everyone who wishes to improve their public speaking ability and increase their confidence to join them. The Club meets on the First and Third Tuesday every month at the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro (next to the post Office). The meeting starts promptly at 6 p.m. Greene County Toastmasters is a chartered member club of Toastmasters International. The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition – Georgia Chapter will host “Hearts of Teal” the last Tuesday of each month. Survivors of all gynecologic cancers are warmly invited to join us.
