Known as “One of the Best Charity Tournaments in the Lake Oconee Area,” the “Giving Back to the Community” Golf Tournament held by Christ Our King and Savior Church is set for April 19 at Harbor Club on Lake Oconee. The 18 holes tournament format is a scramble with four flights (two men, one lady, and one couple), based on the registration.

Chairman Jack Callahan announced, “Last year’s golf tournament raised over $21,000 for Community Outreach Programs for Greene, Putman and Hancock counties. Thanks to the entire COKAS parish, all our local business sponsors, individual sponsors, and the golfing community at Lake Oconee. We plan again this year to give the proceeds back to the community. In 2009, the Community Outreach programs included St. Vincent de Paul Society, First Call Pregnancy Center, Circle of Love Shelter, Ferst Foundation Books, County Food Banks, Habitat for Humanity, Project Linus, Greensboro Dreamers, County Christian Outreach and other groups, which offers assistance and service to the needy and suffering within the Tri-County communities.”

The entry fee per player is $150, which includes 18 holes of golf, a welcome goody bag, box lunch, free drink at the awards ceremony, and free door prize ticket for prizes donated by local sponsors. We are looking for single, doubles and foursome golfers. The tournament committee will be to glad to assign golfers to teams. Register today by calling Jack Callahan at (770) 855-3183!

Maybe this year you will win a new 2010 car or other great prizes if you score a hole-in-one, which is sponsored by Jimmy Britt Chevrolet Buick. Also, a cash prize putting contest, closest to the pin and longest drive contests will be a few of the events at the tournament. You can’t win unless you play!

Remember, all proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Community Outreach Programs for Greene, Putman and Hancock counties.
