Cafe Saturday makes return to Greensboro

Downtown Greensboro welcomes back the popular event, Café Saturday, on June 19 on the Court House Lawn. Café tables will decorate the downtown sidewalks from 4 – 8 p.m. The Event Committee, which is a subcommittee of Greensboro Business Association (GBA), decided to move the time to late afternoon with the hope that families, friends, and neighbors would enjoy visiting downtown in the cool of the evening. Some merchants have readily agreed to remain open during this festive event.
This year’s Café Saturday will feature Mirko Pasta. Visitors will experience the tantalizing tastes of authentic, made-from-scratch Italian cuisine. The casual atmosphere in a café setting that is quintessentially “Mirko” can be enjoyed here on the courthouse lawn in downtown Greensboro. Check them out online at www.mirkopasta.com.
Music will fill Main Street as local musicians Mike Jarrard and Elton Parks of JazzMind perform a playlist made up of summertime favorites live from the Court House Lawn.
“JazzMind is such a fun part of the Café Saturday atmosphere.” shares Better Hometown manager Cail Hammons. “We are thrilled that they will be playing the favorites in downtown Greensboro again this year!”
Don’t miss out on beach blanket bingo throughout the day. Bingo cards are free and rounds start on the hour between 5 and 8 pm. Beach blanket bingo is provided by the Greensboro Business Association.
Greensboro hosted the first Café Saturday in 2004 as the town welcomed shoppers with a guest restaurant. Now in its seventh summer, Café Saturday remains one of downtown’s most popular events and makes up the June installment of the Greensboro Saturdays series, featuring a unique downtown event the third Saturday of each month during the spring, summer and fall.
