Georgia Cancer Specialists welcomes Dr. Thomas

Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) — a Top 10 private cancer practice in the U.S. — continues to grow and expand its services with the addition of Dr. Sherine J. Thomas to its Lake Oconee, Rockdale and Athens offices.
GCS now has 45 physicians and 29 offices.

Dr. Thomas joins Dr. Victoria Afshani at the Lake Oconee office, Dr. Kevin Peacock at the Rockdale office, and Dr. Richard Loyd and Dr. Nirav Dhruva at the Athens office.
“I am very happy and excited to be joining the great team of doctors at Georgia Cancer Specialists,” said Dr. Thomas.
Dr. Thomas completed his fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center’s Feist-Weiller Cancer Center in Shreveport, LA, and his residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center’s Department of Medicine in Shreveport, La. He received his medical degree from the Medical College Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, India. His areas of special interest are genitourinary and gynecological malignancies, gastrointestinal cancers, and head and neck tumors.
Dr. Thomas is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has published and presented several reports, including ones focusing on Corticosteroid-induced Bronchospasm, Factor VIII excess, and Achromobactor Xylosoxidans.
