The Lake Area community is invited to a free screening of “…First Do No Harm,” at Spotlight Theaters in Greensboro on Monday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. Based on a true story, “…First Do No Harm” follows Robbie Reimuller (played by Seth Adkins), a young boy suffering from epilepsy. After seeking the advice of doctors and trying several prescription drugs to control his condition — all to no avail — Robbie’s mother Lori, (played by award-winning actress Meryl Streep) discovers case studies of numerous epileptic patients who were successfully treated with the Ketogenic Diet. Her suggestion of treating her son with a special diet is dismissed by doctors, and the movie explores the incredible odds Lori must overcome in order to heal her child. The movie night is being presented by Dr. Ramona Warren of Pathways to Healing.
“This film explains, in a very powerful way, the importance of educating oneself on health issues,” says Dr. Warren. “Modern medicine has helped millions of people — and it will continue to do so — but prescription medication is not always the only solution. This story is a great example of how, when brought into proper balance, the body has the ability to heal itself.”
“…First Do No Harm” is rated PG-13 for intense emotional and physical depiction of a child’s illness.
