Quilt Guild enjoys Cindy Blackberg and ‘Show and Tell’

Guest Speaker and renowned hand quilter Cindy Blackberg wowed the Lake Oconee Quilt Guild with her presentation of “Quilt History.” Several amazing examples she shared were actual blocks from the Civil War. She also displayed a number of her own beautiful hand quilted pieces at the Oct. 6 meeting. An afternoon workshop gave LOQG members the opportunity to learn Cindy’s hand quilting methods and tips to produce works of their own.

One of the monthly guild features is the “Show and Tell” portion of the program. Bobbie Rainey, Barb Griffiths, Carolyn Wren, and Barbara Callahan show their “Joy” Christmas banners that a project with their “Bee” group.

October’s featured member, novice quilter Cathy Rhodes, shared the brief story of her quilting experience and the joy she has from working with her hands.

At the Nov. 2 meeting, quilter Tess Thorsberg from Macon was scheduled to speak about competitive quilting and show her award winning quilts. It’s important to note a change in the location of the November meeting which was eld at the Harmony Community Center gathering at 9:30 a.m. with the meeting beginning at 10 a.m.
