Starting in January of 2011, Greene County will not only see a New Year, but also, a new community theater company.
This theater company, called The Greene County Players, will produce quality community theater, using local talent. The focus of types of shows presented, will be Southern comedies and classic musicals, with tentative plans for annual Summer youth musicals. The Greene County Players will use several venues throughout the county for performances; with the wonderful, newly renovated Festival Hall hosting the opening production of the company.
The Founding Artistic Director, John Copelan brings with him over 25 years of experience in acting, producing, and directing community theater.
“It is my intention to make this theater company a wonderful addition to the cultural opportunities already available in Greene County,” he states.
The first production will be the hilarious comedy “The Dixie Swim Club” with performances on Feb. 24, 25, & 26, 2011. Auditions for this show will be on Dec. 2, 2010 beginning at 6 p.m. in Festival Hall.
There are parts for five women of any ages. If you are interested in auditioning, please email Mr. Copelan at jcopelan@bellsouth.net for audition information. Additionally, please send an e-mail if you are only interested in being placed on the mailing list. The company also needs directors, technical support, costumers, or any volunteers wishing to come on board.
