- Residents of the Del Webb Community recently returned from a cruise.
Sixty-two Del Webb residents and friends left Mobile on Nov. 6 for a five day/five night cruise to Progresso,Yucatan and Cozumel Mexico. (Last year 48 residents cruised). Everyone had a great time.
An hour before dinner every evening, a majority of the residents gathered on the Promenade Deck for cocktails and to discuss the fun things they did that day. There was bridge, card games, putt-putt golf, gambling, table tennis, dance lessons, bingo, shows, and other activities that were enjoyed as well as an abundance of food.
On shore, some people took advantage of guided tours while others simply shopped and explored on their own. There was a lot of negotiating in the market places to try to get the best prices possible.
At Cozumel, one group received one of the best compliments that people our age can receive — after singing and dancing at a sidewalk cafe, as they were leaving, several of the merchants said “Look at those Spring Breakers.”
At dinner on the last night, the group celebrated the 235th birthday of the United States Marines with resident Marine, Larry Zalenski. The Del Webb group and waiters sung Happy Birthday and Larry was surprised with a cake.
The group is looking forward to an even bigger and better trip next year.
