Local Greene County art advocates meet with State Senator Johnny Grant

Lee Nelson, the Union Point Better Hometown Project manager, Cynthia Smith, owner of Genuine Georgia and representing the Festival Hall on this occasion, and Anne Jenkins, owner of The Point of Art Gallery & Studio in Union Point, recently met with Senator Johnny Grant and other leading arts advocates from the region at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center.
The meeting was organized by Lydia Ivanditti, Executive Director of The Plaza Art Center, Eatonton. Among the subjects discussed was arts as the first step to economic growth, support for the Georgia Council for the Arts in 2011 and the “fractional tax” proposal. All the arts advocates present thanked Sen. Grant for his support of the arts.
Other representation was from the Arts Development Council of Georgia, the Steffan Thomas Museum of Art, Georgia Assembly of Community Arts Agencies, the Madison-Morgan Conservancy and representatives from Hancock County.
