PAPA auditions coming

The Putnam Alliance for the Performing Arts (PAPA) will hold auditions on Jan. 18 and 19, 2011 at 7 p.m. at The Plaza Arts Center Theater for the drama Twelve Angry Jurors. This is a play based on the Emmy award-winning screenplay Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose and adapted for the stage by Sherman Sergel. The play calls for a cast of 13 on stage and 2 off-stage voices. A combination of adult females and males of a wide age range is needed. The director for this production will be Sarah Daly Weir.

The play focuses on the jury proceedings following the trial of a young man who has been accused of the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case until one of the jurors begins questioning the facts as presented during the trial. The jury proceedings become personal as each juror reveals his or her own character, biases, and sense of justice. The script pulls the audience into the jury room, and the final verdict and how it is reached is electrifying.

This play will be produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Ill.  Performances will take place in The Plaza Arts Center Theater on March 25, 26, 27, and April 1 and 2, 2011.

In addition to cast members, help is always needed for stage and other behind-the-scenes work. Call (706) 485-0764 for a script, for more information, or to volunteer to be involved in PAPA.
