A group of 50 PLC members, many with books in hand, were delighted to have an author in their midst when popular fiction writer, Susan P. Mucha, came to the Lake Welcome Center for a book signing on Monday, Jan. 17. She was accompanied by her friend, Lorraine Fegan from Augusta, GA and sister, Great Waters resident Helen Collins.
Mucha resides in Augusta, and Kiawah Island, S.C. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, former emergency room nurse, holds a master’s degree in writing popular fiction from Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania, and currently teaches English composition at Augusta State University in addition to being a published author of two medical mysteries, with a third on the way.
When asked where the ideas for her books originate, Mucha replied that her books are a compilation of scenes from her life and the lives of others. Indeed, her characters’ names are taken from friends (like Ms. Fegan), family members, and pets. Her extensive travel experiences are reflected in the diverse settings of her stories — from Peru, her husband’s homeland, to Bermuda and Cape Cod.
Our local area is represented as well, with the first murder taking place at Augusta National during Masters Week.
Of her first book, Deadly Deception, three time Masters champion and Grand Slam winner Gary Player said it “…is a fast-paced, riveting intrigue thriller that gets you into Augusta National without the coveted badge, and into Peru without the compulsory passport.”
Her second novel, Die Before Your Time, finds the main characters in the midst of other murders and intrigue. Both are available on Amazon, Kindle, and Nook.
