Clients from Lake Oconee’s Goodwill Job Connection, volunteers from Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, and food provided by Central Georgia Christian Food Bank joined together in an effort to help the job seekers improve job interviewing skills.
Volunteers from one of the church’s Home Fellowship Groups which meets at Rush and Ellen Utley’s home in Sebastian Cove, conducted practice interviews with the clients.
A special presentation was made by Lynn Hudson, Job Connection Center Coordinator, to Lonnie Welch. He received a certificate pf achievement for attending all five Goodwill Platinum Level Training classes.
Following the training, everyone was treated to a luncheon provided by the Central Georgia Christian Food Bank. On the menu was spicy chili, salad, and yummy desserts. The desserts were compliments of Publix at Lake Oconee.
“Thank you so much for taking the time to work with our clients on their interview skills,” says Ivey E. J. Hall, director of volunteer services. “The personalized attention you were able to provide really helps a job seeker prepare for, and feel comfortable in, a future interview.”
In addition to helping clients find employments, Goodwill’s Job Connection offers assistance in preparing resumes, and computers to expand job searching venues.
The Job Connection is open daily. For more information, contact Lynn Hudson at (706) 485-0244 or lhudson@goodwillworks.org.
