Calling all Lake Oconee Critters:

As part of the Big Event, which is a successor to the Home & Garden show and is sponsored by the Lake Oconee Home Builders Association, ORHS will be holding a fund raiser for election of the ‘critter mayor.’ The Oconee Regional Humane Society (ORHS) is holding this “critter election” and welcomes all entrants. All candidates and their platforms will be on display at the Big Event. Donations made to support each candidate’s campaign will help fund animal care, adoptions and the spay/neuter program ORHS provides to Greene and Putnam Counties.

The first candidate to qualify as a candidate is Buddy, a native of Greshamville. Buddy is a black and white ‘tuxedo’ cat…. And just in case you suspect him of being just another ‘fat cat’ politician you need to take another look. Buddy insists that he is an everyday guy. When his staff tried to dress him in a suit and tie for his campaign photos, his strenuous objections carried the day.

Buddy identifies himself as an Independent…naturally he’s a cat…. after all. His platform is bound to resonate with many lake area residents. He says he won’t pussyfoot around when facing important issues.

“A fish in every pot,” Buddy announced as his primary campaign promise. He also favors a year-round, no-limit season on mice.

This is an open election to all Lake Oconee critters…Cats, Dogs, or anyone you feel is ‘your critter.’ The Big Event is being held on March 19 at the Lake Oconee Village from noon until 8 p.m.  Time is of the essence, so please call ORHS for additional qualifying information at (706) 454-1508. Capture your ‘critters’ best electoral candidate photo, help them develop their campaign strategy, and join us in the fun! The “Mayor” will be elected based on the amount of funds raised to support their election.
