Rotary Club honors February Students of the Month

Nicole Hewitt was chosen as the February Rotary Student of the Month for Putnam County High School.
She is the daughter of Dee and Judy Hewitt. Hewitt is a member and the captain of the Putnam County competitive cheerleading squad. Marissa has received multiple honors and awards for her outstanding academic accomplishments and is a member of the National Honor Society.
She enjoys volunteering her time to help others and educating young children about drug prevention. Her plans after high school are to attend the University of Georgia and major in Exercise Science. Miss Hewitt chose Tammy Joiner as her Teacher-of-the-Month because “she is a great teacher and is always so easy to talk to.” Ms. Joiner commented, “Nicole is extremely hard-working and is a natural leader in the classroom and out.”
Christian Anes was chosen as the February Rotary Student of the Month from Greene County High School.
Anes is the son of Dominador and Ceticia Anes. He is on the A/B Honor Roll, has been a member of the Beta Club all four years of high school, is a part of the JROTC, and is a student athletic trainer for Greene County High School. Christian plans to attend Valdosta State University and major in physical therapy with a minor in sports medicine. He chose Mr. Bruce Lovin as his Teacher-of-the-Month. Lovin praised Christian’s excellent work ethic and willingness to do anything when asked. He even bragged about how Christian has mastered the art of sports medicine. Christian stated, “I appreciate everything Mr. Lovin has done and I truly enjoy working with him every day.”
Hannah Cornelia, daughter of Tom and Debbie Cornelia, was selected as the Rotary Student of the Month for Gatewood Schools for February. Cornelia is an Honor student, a member of the National Honor Society, a Senior Superlative, a Senior Favorite, and has earned multiple awards in different subjects. Hannah also has been a member of Anchor Club and SGA all four years of high school, along with being a member of the Interact Club and Key Club. She is currently the secretary of SGA and treasurer of the Key Club. She has spent much of her time volunteering with Rotary and helping with food distributions in the area. Hannah participates in cheerleading, tennis, and track, and is currently the captain of the cheerleading squad. Next year, Cornelia plans to attend the University of Georgia and major in pharmacy. Joe DeLoach was chosen as Hannah’s Teacher of the Month. DeLoach stated that, “Hannah is truly one of the silent majority. She is always on task and is a delightful student to teach.”
Nathanael Greene Academy teachers chose Bailey Echols as the Student of the Month for February.
She is the daughter of Chris and Amy Echols. Echols is a member of the Beta Club, secretary of the junior class, has received Scholastic Achievement awards, and is a member of the upcoming Interact Club. She plays basketball, softball, tennis, and runs track. Bailey plans to attend the University of West Georgia upon graduation. Echols chose Hillary Hensley as her Teacher-of-the-Month. Hensley remarked that “I cherish Bailey because she always does what she is asked and even says ‘yes ma’m’ which is very special in today’s world.”
