The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is gearing up for its 12th annual Lake Oconee Scramble Golf Tournament.  This year’s tournament will be held at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.  During the history of this event, the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties has raised over $200,000 to support local and international charities, schools, and community organizations.  Such organizations include: Second Harvest, Alliance for Smiles, Meals on Wheels, American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy, St. Joseph’s East Georgia, Putnam General Hospital, ATLAS Ministries, Rivers Alive and many more.  Last year, the Rotary Club raised over $20,000 for some of these very worthy causes and organizations.

This year’s tournament sponsorships are priced from $100 to $1000.  The tournament is a scramble format and will raise money for local schools and local and international charities.  The shotgun start will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by dinner immediately after play.  Golfers may sign up in teams of four or as individuals and be paired off.  Entry fees are $150 per player or $600 for a team of four.

As part of the events of the day, the 2nd annual Golf Ball Drop will be held.  Tickets for golf balls are $20 each.  Upon completion of the play of golf, the golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter.  The three closet balls to the designated flag will win cash prizes in the amount of $2,000, $1,000 and $500.  Tickets can be purchased from any Rotary member.
