Harmony Baptist Church will be holding Sunrise Services on Easter Sunday at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast. At 10:30 the congregation will enjoy a special music program and an Easter message.

Philadelphia and St. Paul United Methodist Churches will have joint Easter Services on Sunday, April 24.

Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 264 New Phoenix Rd, will have a sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. St. Paul United Methodist Church, 144 Rockville RD, will have a worship service at 11 a.m.

The congregations of both churches invite the community to these services. Rev. Ben Strength is pastor.

A community wide prayer meeting will be held on April 19, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 324 Rhodes Street in Union Point, GA.

Holy Week services announced at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church.

The beginning of Holy Week is the celebration of the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church will have a Palm Sunday Worship Celebration at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 17.

Maundy Thursday, April 21, will be a time for remembering Jesus’ instructions that we should serve one another and for remembrance of the Last Supper. It is important for the body of Christ to come together to share in Communion. Service time is 7 p.m. and free child care will be available.

At noon on Good Friday, April 22, there will be a service of remembrance and reflection on the last words that Christ said as He hung from the cross. At the conclusion of the service, there will be no benediction, no good words offered, for indeed there is nothing good about the darkness that was left when our Lord breathes His last. Rather, the people of  God will depart in silence, and return for the conclusion of the service on Easter Sunday. Good Friday service time will begin at 12 p.m. and end promptly at 1 p.m.   Child care will be provided.

Easter Sunday, April 24, will be celebrated with joyful fanfare and shouts of jubilee as we proclaim to the world that the tomb was empty.  There will be two identical hours of Worship Celebration, one at 8:30 a.m. and the other at 10:30 a.m. There will be no Adult Learning Communities or Children’s Sunday School on Easter Sunday.

Instead, between the two services, a complimentary brunch will be served in the church’s pavilion.  

Everyone is invited to take part in all of the opportunities for worship during Holy Week.
