Rotary Golf Scramble Fundraiser a success
Published 8:00 am Wednesday, June 1, 2011
The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties hosted their 12th annual Lake Oconee Scramble golf tournament on May 17 at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee. Although the weather turned a little chilly and the wind kicked up, the foursome of Jay Hall, Rich Buonocore, Steve Back, and Martin Medrano was victorious at the end of the round. The evening was capped off with the excitement of the 2nd Annual Golf Ball Drop. Margie Eddy-Forbes was the lucky winner when her golf ball landed closest to the pin.
During the history of this event, the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties has raised more than $200,000 to support local and international charities, schools, and community organizations. Of course, the event would not be as successful if it were not for the wonderful golfers who come out to play each year and the fantastic sponsors who generously support the Rotary Club.
