Keller Williams Realty, Lake Oconee recently had their annual ‘Red Day.’ For this date they joined other Keller Williams agents around the globe to give back to their community. Jamie Dutton, an award willing agent for Keller Williams, Lake Oconee organized a Jail n Bail fundraiser to benefit Second Harvest, Inc. Second Harvest is a food rescue and distribution program which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties.
Chip Lyness, Dock 103.9, was on hand at the Spotlight Theatre to ‘witness’ the many prominent area citizens who willingly served time to raise money for the food program. ‘Judge’ Ginny Moore, Keller Williams Realty, was ruthless in identifying the ‘crimes and punishment’ for those who ‘spent time in jail.’ Her creativity in identifying charges and the resulting punishment was enjoyed by all — those who ‘served their time’ and those who came to bail them out. Despite the economic impact to their businesses, many area builders and realtors came forward and were the star fundraisers for the event. Individuals such as Wendy Myers, Lake Oconee Area Builders Association and Maxine Pepin, President of Plantation Ladies Club, worked hard and each were able to raise a substantial amount of money for ‘their early release’.
At the end of the day, many had spent their time in jail and raised money for Second Harvest to use in their quest to end hunger in Greene and Putnam Counties. Linda Maples, Vice President of Second Harvest stated: “Our food distribution is held the third Saturday of each month at the Greene County High School. We spend approximately $1,000 (plus transportation) per month to provide food to an average of 360 participants each month. We are most grateful for Keller Williams agents, area builders and area residents who ‘served time’ so we can continue to serve those in need of food.”
Anyone who would like additional information regarding Second Harvest or who would like to volunteer time or finances for a food distribution may call Dr. Lou Pack, President Second Harvest at (770) 335-9201 or Linda Maples at (404) 405- 3729.
