Three LOTA (Lake Oconee Tennis Association) made it to the State USTA finals in Columbus, Georgia IN June. The teams, which included a Women’s 3.5 team, a Women’s 4.0 team and a Men’s 4.0 team, won the opportunity to compete in the finals by beating other local teams during the Spring USTA leagues.

The Women’s 3.5 team was captained by Kay Moore and members included Patricia Balduff, Linda Henao, Lillian Butterworth, Karon Gilliland, Rose Belk and Tammy Smith.

The Men’s 4.0 team consisted of Captain Lin Logan, Mike Garrett, Rick Franks, Dick Settles, Joe Gorman, Dwayne Artz, Steve Wilkinson and Mike Sullivan.

The Women’s 4.0 team was comprised of Captain, Martha Franks, Debbie Curtis, Kathee Gabriel, Judith Zimmerman, Carol Lynch, Sharon Gorman, Joan Eubanks, and Connie Cline.

Both the 4.0 teams won the majority of their matches. The 3.5 team lost in third set tie breakers, which was respectable, but disappointing to the hard playing team members.
