The lake area community is invited to a free screening of The Future of Food at Spotlight Theaters in Greensboro on Monday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
The Future of Food offers an in-depth investigation into the truth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled grocery store shelves for the past decade. It examines the complex web of market and political forces that are changing what we eat, as huge multinational corporations seek to control the world’s food system. By examining the effects of biotechnology on the nation’s smallest farmers, director Deborah Koons Garcia reveals the unappetizing truth about genetically modified foods: you could unknowingly be serving them for dinner.
The movie is being presented by Dr. Ramona Warren, Dr. Justin Lance and Dr. Haley Lance of Pathways to Healing.
“The marketing of America is killing us,” says Dr. Warren. “A lot of people are unaware of what’s on the grocery store shelves. There’s so much deception and so much that happens in the industrialization of food that we don’t even realize. My hope with this film is to give people the information they need to make informed choices and improve their health. The future of food really is in the hands of the consumers.”
