Plans are underway on a spectacular first-time event, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3 in downtown Greensboro. The Festival of Trees Celebration will present a glorious “forest” of decorated trees, wreaths, centerpieces and gingerbread houses that will fill the auditorium of Festival Hall. The proceeds from the purchase of these one-of-a-kind creations will benefit Greene County’s new Boys and Girls Club, located in the south wing of Greensboro Elementary School.
Santa Claus will be on hand to greet his young fans. Kids can enjoy a fun shopping spree at “Santa’s Secret Shop,” a whimsical store that will offer kids the opportunity to purchase inexpensive gifts for family and friends. On Friday afternoon, a special preview party for Boys and Girls Club donors and supporters will present an early look at all of the artistic creations donated by area businesses and organizations and decorated by local artists and chefs.
To accompany this holiday event, entertainment on the stage will feature local soloists, musicians and choirs. Look for more information on this exciting upcoming event to appear in the newspaper and in the store windows of your favorite area shops. Tickets for the event will be: $3 for youth 8-18, children under 8 – FREE and $5 for adults. The festival will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.
