Best of Atlanta winner is guest of Harbor Club Ladies League

The Harbor Club Ladies League had quite a treat when Johnnie Gabriel, an Atlanta Magazine “Best of Atlanta” seven-time award winner, guested at its October meeting. Johnnie (also known as the Cake Lady) and her husband Ed own Gabriel’s Desserts, a well-known Marietta cafe and bakery. She and her daughter, Laura Rebo, demonstrated how to make one of their holiday specialties, Cake Pops.
The ladies took copious notes, with the idea of sharing this baking experience with their grandchildren.
Co-president, Camille Mancuso welcomed new members, April Matthews and Jan Farrington and guest Snookie Perrie.
Debbie Burns of the Activities Committee finalized plans for the groups trip for the Halloween Cemetery Tour in Eatonton Oct. 27. Plans are also in the works for at trip to the Macon Grand Opera House in December.
Millicent Zamirowski reported that 130 Greene County elementary school children have been “adopted” by the Harbor Club ladies for Christmas gifts.
Danelle Borland of the Outreach Committee announced that a cake raffle would be held at the next meeting. The raffle monies are used for donations to local charities.
The November meeting will be bring a visit to Le Petit Jardin in Madison with demonstrations highlighting holiday floral arrangements. Lunch will follow at Town 220.
Ms Gabriel donated door prizes of cookbooks, cookies and her famous strawberry cake. Prize winners were Marge Bates, Janet Farrington, Jeanie Folsum, Sandra Glass, Brenda Hill, Louise Hull, Rita Jones, Camille Mancuso, Teresa Morris, Ann Price, Candi Russell, Rae Shroeder and Dottie
