Lights of Oconee hosts February Builders luncheon

Lights of Oconee and Pella Windows & Doors in The Village at Harmony Crossing co-sponsored the February Lake Oconee Area Builders Association Luncheon. The event was held within the Lights of Oconee showroom and consisted of lunch, a special celebration of member Fran Faxon, new member and potential member orientation, special announcements for membership (including details on this year’s Big Event on March 17) and a Pella of Georgia course on proper window installation.
The highlight of the event came in the form of a birthday celebration for Fran Faxon, who recently turned 84. “Mr. Fran,” as he’s affectionately known, has been an active member of LOABA for more than 15 years serving on the board as the membership chairman and more recently the education chairman. Mr. Fran was recently recognized as the 2011 Associate of the Year. In 2011, LOABA began the Fran Faxon Scholarship Foundation. Eligible applicants for the scholarship include an employee or the son, daughter, spouse or grandchild of living, retired or deceased employee of a company that is a current member of LOABA.
Following the celebration, LOABA provided details on their quarterly new member orientation. The purpose of the orientation is for new and potential members to ask questions and learn more information on the value of a LOABA membership. In addition, there were several announcements regarding some of those benefits of membership and a preview on the upcoming Big Event, which will be held March 17 at Lake Oconee Village and open to the community.
The event concluded with a Pella of Georgia course on proper window installation. One of the many benefits to being a member of LOABA is continuing education. Members of the organization are kept up to date on the recent trends in the construction industry, as well as old trends that need to be refreshed. Pella offered its one hour CEU for members and non-members on proper window installation with more than 30 individuals in attendance.
