The Lake Oconee Bariatric Surgery Support Group meets the second Tuesday of each month at the office of Oconee Nutrition Consultants at Cowles Clinic, Suite Elm. Anyone considering surgery, pre- or post-op is welcome. Dr. Cesar Gumcuio of the Moore Center will be the guest speaker April 10. Do you doodle in the margins? Transcendoodles are STMA’s take on the latest rage in creative daydreaming with pen and paper. Once again favorite creative thinker, Elizabeth Collins of Sparkle Plenty Art will open eyes to a mind-blowing technique that will set your creative spirit free. The museum will provide pen and paper, which is all you need to turn your scribbles into fascinating patterns and designs that seem to draw themselves. You’ll be mesmerized by the technique, and there’s no end to the creative possibilities you’ll discover when you’re “in the zone.” The workshop starts at 10 a.m. and runs until noon. Admission is $10 for adults; $8 for children. STMA members receive a $2 discount, and those in financial need may attend free of charge. Reservations are required, so call (706) 342-7557. Model Car Contest at second annual St. Matts Car Show and Spring Festival on the Grand Lawn of the Vines Mansion and Botanical Gardens in Loganville. Boys, girls and grown-ups can compete for trophies in the 1/24th, 1/32nd scale plastic models and Pinewood Derby car classes. The Greene County Toastmasters Club invites everyone who wishes to improve their public speaking ability and increase their confidence to join them.
