Lake Oconee Lutheran Church is presenting its annual Spring Concert at 7 p.m. Anyone who has attended previous concerts there knows that this won’t be your typical conventional church concert. Although many musical genres will be performed, this year’s concert will feature the music of Adele, whose music recently swept the Grammys.
The annual evening of memorable music and entertainment at Lake Oconee Lutheran has a reputation in this area for creative arrangements and performances.
As usual, the Lake Oconee Lutheran choir will perform, this time with five selections of song and praise. Some of Adele’s biggest hits will be performed by solo artists Dana Beck, Stevanna Greene, and Linda Mallam, with the backing of the choir. Dana Beck is from the Lake Oconee area and has been a favorite soloist each year. Stevanna Greene, a student at Greene County High, has become a rising vocal sensation and was recently invited to study with a variety of vocal coaches at the
New York Met. She has studied at UGA as well. Linda Mallam, an Atlanta vocalist, is making her first appearance at Lake Oconee.
The spring concert is always connected to the neighboring School of Music at Georgia College, and this year the GC String Quartet will back up the vocalists and choir. Director Rudisail always keeps the music flowing so that the concert never lasts more than an hour.
Director Brad Rudisail is a graduate of North Texas State University, which is globally known for its music program. Prior to his service as church music director, he was an instrumental recording artist, sound track composer, jingle writer, and piano instructor. He released five CD’s throughout his career and won national awards for his jingle and composing works.
The spring concert will be followed with an abundant reception of refreshments provided by members of LOLC. Donations are encouraged and all collections will benefit The Circle of Love Center, the area shelter for victims of domestic violence.
