Greene County Chamber of Commerce holds annual dinner, awards banquet

Festival Hall in Greensboro was all decked out in ‘Simply Greene’ featuring hunting and golf accents at the Chamber’s recent annual dinner and awards banquet. Two hundred twenty-five members and guests filled the auditorium for the annual event sponsored this year by a2b Fulfillment, Georgia Power, Good Samaritan Saint Mary’s Hospital, BankSouth, NIBCO Inc., The Farmers Bank, E.R. Snell, Cowles Clinic, Certus Bank, Novelis and Plantation Quail.

Hilarious entertainment was performed by comic hypnotist Dr. Holiday from Buford and volunteers from those in attendance. The 2011 Student of the Year for middle school was Ilsse Ortega, an eighth grader from Anita Carson Middle School; 2011 Student of the Year for high school was Jay Long, a senior at Nathanael Greene

Academy.

Large Business of the Year was presented to The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation; Small Business of the Year was presented to Lake Oconee Family Dentistry — Drs. David and Patti Bradley; Agri-Business of the Year was presented to Cotton Boswell with R.L. Boswell Logging; and Volunteer of the Year was presented to Theresa Kemp with Greene County Habitat for Humanity.

A special Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Chip Lyness with WDDK DOCK 103.9 for his service to Greene County and the Lake Oconee area. The Chamber would like to thank all who supported the annual event, and congratulations to all award winners.
