The Greene County Library’s Vacation Reading Club kicked off its “Dream Big — Read!” program May 24. with two very talented Greene County young ladies, Lyrric Jackson and Stevonna Greene.

Jackson, a 2009 graduate of Greene County High School and now majoring in drama/dance at Spelman College, will present a dance demonstration before teaching the children a dance just for them. Jackson, now a college junior, is an honor student, campus leader and member of Spelman’s Dance Theater Pre-professional Company. This summer she is performing in Sorrento, Italy with the Staibdance Company of Atlanta.

Greensboro’s little girl with the big voice, Stevonna Greene, has performed at Festival Hall as well as many other venues in and around the area. She recently visited New York City where she toured the Metropolitan Opera and attended an opera in which OPAS Artistic Director, Jeffery Wells, was performing. While there, she also attended voice and acting sessions.

Miss Mag’s tiny tot (ages 0-4) sessions will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. each Thursday for stories and fun. All other programs run from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday (except on Movie Days, when they’ll end at 3 p.m.).
