Cowan opens counseling practice in Eatonton

A need for counseling services in the tri-county area was something Dr. Katie L. Cowan recognized back in late 2010. With a passion for helping others and a desire to help the local community, Dr. Cowan opened the doors to her own counseling practice located at 935 Harmony Road in Eatonton.

A doctor of psychology graduate from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology, Dr. Cowan is a licensed clinical psychologist in Georgia.
Cowan completed her internship the University of South Carolina Counseling and Human Development Center where she provided evaluations and counseling services to adolescents, adults, families, and couples. She later completed her post-doctoral work as a staff psychologist at the University of Alabama Counseling Center in Huntsville. Before opening her own practice in the lake area, Cowan practiced at the Eating Disorders Recovery Center of Athens.
“People seek therapy for a variety of reasons,” said Dr. Cowan. “Whether it be for personal growth, or to address abuse, anxiety, or depression, therapy can be helpful during times of life transition. I provide a confidential, safe, and supportive place for my clients to grow, change, and improve their quality of life.”
Working in private practice since 2008, Cowan works with adolescents, adults, families, and couples providing evaluations and psychotherapy. In addition to specializing in eating disorders, Dr. Cowan works with a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, grief and
trauma.
