Reynolds Plantation is pleased to announce the inclusion of its Peter Burwash International (PBI) Tennis Center in Tennis Resorts Online’s (TRO) annual rankings of the Top 75 Resorts. The rankings are compiled by Roger Cox, owner and publisher of TRO (tennisresortsonline.com), a website offering reviews of resorts and camps written by both him and the site’s readers. Cox, a former Tennis magazine travel editor who has covered tennis for over 30 years, started TRO in 1999.
“The best sources of information about a tennis resort or camp experience are the players who go there on vacation,” said Cox. “But these aren’t ordinary players. They spend an average of 100 days a year on court, which means that they have high expectations of the staff and programs.”
The 2012 survey divides the results into the Top 75 Tennis Resorts and the Top 25 Tennis Camps. Rankings were determined by rating the overall tennis experience in 12 categories, from resort lodging and restaurants to teaching staff, tournaments and game matching. To be eligible, a tennis resort must have six or more tennis courts.
Reynolds Plantation was awarded the Silver Medal, placing it in the Top 50 Places to Play Tennis, up from their position in the Top 75 a year ago.
“To make it into the top 50 tennis destinations among all the wonderful properties listed annually for Tennis Resorts Online is an honor,” explained Director of Tennis at Reynolds Plantation, Dave Neuhart. “And it’s an honor shared by the efforts of our whole staff because this is voted on by those who actually visit and use our facilities. It means that without the tremendous effort of everyone, this award would not have been possible. We have a great team of individuals working here at the Lake Club Tennis Center and we owe this honor to all of them.”
