Two hundred people attended the fourth annual Community Celebration of Freedom this past Sunday at the Plantation Point Pavilion. The event was sponsored by Lake Oconee Community Church, under the direction of Gary W. Arnold, pastor of Worship and the Arts.
The Greensboro High School ROTC presented the colors. Columbus State University Professor, Carmen Skaggs Trammell, sang selections of the great American composer Aaron Copland as well as the national anthem.
A report by Pastor Becky Matheny, and the Summer LOCC Interns was given concerning the LOCC Youth Alliance — a five-week program involving 140 children from both Putnam and Greene Counties.
Those present enjoyed singing the songs of the states, and celebrated the creation of a new LOCC entity, Lake Oconee Congregation Chai — a “First Friday Shabbat” which meets at the Park Place LOCC facilities.
