James T. Tippett, M.D., a board-certified specialist in internal medicine with over 30 years experience and a long-time practitioner in the Greene County area, has joined St. Mary’s Medical Group in Greene County.
After completing his Master of Science degree in biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Dr. Tippett earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine and completed his internship and internal medicine residency at MCG, becoming board certified in internal medicine. He then went into private practice in Augusta. In 2005, Dr. Tippett brought his practice to the Greensboro area as part of what is now Georgia Health Sciences Medical Associates.
As an internal medicine specialist, Dr. Tippett provides comprehensive preventive care, diagnostics and treatment for adults age 18 and over. He has special clinical interest in providing care to patients with hypertensive cardiovascular disease, that is, conditions caused by high blood pressure that affect the heart and blood vessels. In addition to continuing to practice medicine full time, Dr. Tippett will serve as the medical director of the St. Mary’s Medical Group in Greensboro with the mission of recruiting additional primary care and specialty physicians to support and integrate with the new St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital.
“Because I relocated to this area with my family, I have a very real and personal interest in high quality health care for this community,” Dr. Tippett said. “St. Mary’s is making a huge commitment to our area. I am proud to be affiliated with an organization that is dedicated to providing quality care to this community and the Middle Georgia area.”
During a short transition period, St. Mary’s will establish an office and provide staff for Dr. Tippett. The office location and contact information will be announced in the near future.
“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Tippett to St. Mary’s Medical Group’s growing family of practitioners here in Greene County,” said St. Mary’s Good Samaritan interim CEO Montez Carter. “He and Dr. Eric Silver are the first of a multi-specialty group of physicians we are committed to bringing to the greater Greene County area to provide high quality care to all who live, work or play in the communities we serve.”
