STMA and The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton present “Mothers and Children: Beyond Sentiment.” This show features a collection of paintings depicting the theme of mother and child. The show is located at The Plaza Arts Center, 305 N. Madison Ave., Eatonton.

Reynolds Plantation has opened their seasonal ice skating rink. Access to the rink is complimentary for resort guests, $40 per four-hour session for adults, $30 per four-hour session per child (12 and under). The prince includes a skate rental.

The Madison Artists Guild proudly presents “Point of Origin,” the debut show of local artist Katharine Wibell, at MAG’s new quarterly venue, Perk Avenue. Several years ago, Wibell, a recent graduate of both Mercer University’s Fine Art and Psychology programs, became interested in stippling and pointillism.

Wibell’s work varies focal points and mediums dependent upon which of her wide range of interests she wants to explore. It is her unique choice of style that ties her body of work together into this fascinating and unparalleled show. The pets at the Oconee Regional Humane Society are offering a two bedroom, two-bath ocean view condo at the Royal Caribbean Resort in Cancun — Riviera Maya. The weeklong condo rental (March 30 – April 6) will be for the winner of ORHS’ Rest and Rescue Raffle, also included is boarding for one pet at Park Place Animal Hospital (airfare is not included). Join the Master Gardener’s at 5 p.m. to learn the correct way to maintain your tools. Jesse Wright, co-owner of Agee Lawn and Garden #2 in Eatonton, will be the guest lecturer and will demonstrate taking tools apart, cleaning, sharpening and readying them for work. The public is invited to join the gardener’s at the Morgan County Extension Office, 440 Hancock St., Madison, at the back door. 

 

Feb. 5

Lake Oconee Quilt Guild meets at Lake Oconee Lutheran Church (behind the Harmony Association Building on Hwy 44). Coffee is available at 9:30 a.m. and the program begins at 10. There is a $3 fee charged for non-members and visitors are always welcome. The purpose of the guild is to promote the art and craft of quilting through encouragement and education, as well as building fellowship within the community.

 

Feb. 13

Oconee Master Gardeners Association, in conjunction with UGA Cooperative Extension, will be sponsoring a Rejuvenation Pruning class at 10:30 a.m. at the Putnam County Extension Office, 663 Godfrey Road, Eatonton. The class is free and open to the public. Extension Agent Keith Fielder will demonstrate how using proper pruning techniques can rejuvenate overgrown and aging ornamental landscape plants.

 

Feb. 19

Old Salem Fire Rescue will hold their second annual BINGO BASH at the Spotlight Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with BINGO beginning at 7. All proceeds benefit OSFR.
