January through February
Reynolds Plantation has opened their seasonal ice skating rink. Access to the rink is complimentary for resort guests, $40 per four-hour session for adults, $30 per four-hour session per child (12 and under). The prince includes a skate rental.
January through March
STMA, 4200 Bethany Road, Buckhead, will present “Steffen Thomas Prints and Printmaking.” The exhibit contains Steffen Thomas’ hand pulled prints, printmaking plates and tools. For more information, call (706) 342-7557.
The Madison Artists Guild proudly presents “Point of Origin,” the debut show of local artist Katharine Wibell, at MAG’s new quarterly venue, Perk Avenue. Abbey Hospice Foundation invites the community to attend their free workshop: Caregiver Journey: Caring for a loved one. The LifeSource Food Distribution Program will take place at 10 a.m. in the Putnam County Elementary School Gym. Any disabled resident who has already registered and would like to designate someone to get his or her food distribution must give that person a signed authorization to do so. Putnam General Hospital will provide nutrition education and counseling. DFCS will provide assistance applications and answer questions. ORHS representatives will provide pet food and signups for spaying/neutering services. FERST Foundation for Childhood Literacy will provide free books/signups.

The Lunchbag Landscape Lecture Tomato Talk will be held at the Greene County Extension Service, 1180 C. Weldon Smith Drive, Greensboro, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Greene County Players will be putting on a production of “Curious Savage”. Tickets are available at Festival Hall or by calling (762) 243-8022. Performances Thursday through Saturday are at 7 p.m.; Sunday will be at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 to $20; opening night ticket price includes a wine and cheese reception following the performance.

The Lake Country Beekeepers Association will conduct a Beekeeping Short Course from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. in Sparta at Elm Street Gardens. The pre-registration fee is $40 or $45 on the day of the program. There is a $10 fee for each additional family member and children under 18 with an adult are free. Registration includes a “First Lessons in Beekeeping” book by Dr. Keith Delaplane, handouts, one-year family membership in the association, refreshments and lunch. Preregistration is encouraged. The public is invited to attend a St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital Town Hall meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. at Festival Hall. Montez Carter, President of Good Samaritan Hospital, and Don McKenna, St. Mary’s President and CEO, will be conducting a presentation regarding the current status and plans for the hospital, followed by a question and answer session. Ed Bullard, Chairman, Board of Commissioners, will be present at this meeting to express his support and appreciation for this valuable new facility.
