Leigh Lofgren, well-known photographer in the Lake Country, was recently awarded a Gold Medal in International Competition. Her photo, “Toast Monkey,” won first place in the Humor category at the Egyptian International Photography Contest this past November. Her photo was one of the 9,600 accepted from over 30,000 entered in the competition judged by a panel of professional photographers from around the world. Unfortunately she was unable to be present at the awards ceremony held in Cairo in December as she and her husband Bob were in Singapore, winding up a seven week cruise.
She will indulge her passion yet again as she travels to Senegal this month to visit with friends and photograph the spectacular birds native to the Senegalese coastline. Then, in August, off to the Pantanal in Brazil where she hopes to capture images of the elusive local jaguar in her lens.
Leigh is a member of the Madison Artists Guild, International Freelance Photography Union and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. Her prints can be viewed (and ordered) on her website at www.leighlofgren.com.
