Walk or stroll through the beautiful and historic downtown Greensboro while helping the Moon and Back Foundation Inc. support others. The walk benefits the families of the Aflac Cancer Center at Egleston’s Children Hospital of Atlanta. The walk will begin at 9 a.m.; Saturday, May 4, at the Greene County High School Football Field, 1002 South Main St. Greensboro, GA 30642.

Tickets for Lake Oconee’s 3rd annual “Cocktails for a Cure” are now available for purchase. Lake Oconee Village will host the 3rd annual Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (TS Alliance) Fundraiser, “Cocktails for a Cure,” Saturday, April 20. “Cocktails for a Cure” is always a night to remember, filled with entertainment, delicious food, wine tastings and cocktails. Last year, the event was moved to a larger venue, drawing more than 200 supporters yielding over $30,000 of donations. This year “Cocktails for a Cure” will be even more spectacular, offering wine tastings, hors d’oeuvres, silent and live auction. Lake Oconee residents will not want to miss the opportunity to participate in this elegant affair. All proceeds will benefit the TS Alliance, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC).

The Annual Community Market Day and Yard Sale will be held in Eatonton at the Plaza Arts Center from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be a puppet show and books available for all children. Products for sale will include: furniture, house wares, tools, hardware and building supplies, vintage cards and toys. There will be sweets available as well as savory treats. Various artists will be on display, as will antiques. Plants and pots will be available. The price to acquire a vendor space is $25, make checks out to the Ferst Foundation and mail them to P.O. Box 4283, Eatonton, GA 31024.

The Putnam Alliance for the Performing Arts (PAPA) will present “Nunsense” a musical comedy by Dan Goggins and directed by Dottie McClain. Performances on April 19, 20, 26 and 27 will take place at 8 p.m. at The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton. Southland Jubilee, Greensboro’s annual Heritage Arts Festival will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The festival will feature: food, entertainment, arts and crafts, classic cars and fun for the whole family.

Savor a Saturday Night, the major annual fundraising event for The Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club of Greene County, is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Dinner, silent auction and a lively concert will be staged in the Grand Ballroom of the Ritz Carlton Lodge on Lake Oconee. Returning this year to perform are local and Atlanta concert favorites, Banks and Shane.
The event’s silent auction will include fantastic vacation packages, as well as the art of Henry Barnes, David Siffert and Pricilla Smith. Special features of the auction will be a selection of Trace Adkins memorabilia: A guitar, Stetson hat and concert poster, all signed by the country music star-plus other Trace Adkins articles. The Pete Nance Club is most grateful for Mr. Adkins generous response to our auction requests.
The entire event is underwritten by a dedicated benefactor, so that proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club.
