The Greene County Chamber of Commerce coordinated a nonprofit board member orientation in late February and selected Facilitator Bob Harris with the Nonprofit Center to be the keynote speaker.

Local nonprofit organizations were invited to participate. President of the Chamber of Commerce Becky Cronic stated, “Bob Harris with The Nonprofit Center, has over 30 years of experience facilitating nonprofit sessions such as this one. We were very fortunate to have him and his guest, Mr. H as Eiichi Kurabayashi from Japan AMC, enlighten us with tools for success.” Mr. Harris is on the faculty for the US Chamber of Commerce and has worked with associations and chambers in Amman, Jordan, Minsk, Belarus and Tokyo, Japan. He’s been called the “Martha Stewart” of association management for his willingness to share tips and resources.

In addition Becky Cronic and Vickie Jenkins, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Chamber, attended a Georgia Chamber Association of Executives meeting in November 2012 where Mr. Harris focused on Leadership Roles for similar organizations.

“I didn’t realize how in depth the session was going to be and I gained so much information from Mr. Harris’ expertise,” Gene Yaws, House Manager at Festival Hall says. Each participant left the session with a wealth of knowledge and a better understanding of their roles and goals as board members and directors of nonprofit organizations. Those organizations participating in the session were Greene County Habitat for Humanity, Festival Hall, Lake Oconee Academy, Greene County Chamber of Commerce and Reynolds Plantation Foundation.
