Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club names new director

The Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club of Greene County welcomes new Director, Bobby Mackey, who brings to the position a wealth of experience with youth and the organizations that support youth services.

Bobby is an optimistic, caring and motivated professional whose dedication and perseverance has affected the lives of thousands of children and families across a wide spectrum of Georgia and around the United States. At the age of 22, he became one of the youngest Professional Social Service Workers for the Department of Juvenile Justice serving Greene County, Putnam County, Morgan County and Jasper County. His mission has been to guide and encourage youth to “pay it forward” in the right direction. He has worked in the non-profit sector since age 19, and offers to the Pete Nance Club both his experience and knowledge in the area of Youth Development, Parental Involvement and Family Engagement. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

As Director of Education for Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Georgia for the past four and a half years, Bobby has been credited with increasing high school graduation rates among at-risk youth by 85 percent. During his tenure in this position, area school attendance rates and parental involvement increased. School/community relations improved, discipline rates dropped by 50 percent and gang activity by 30 percent. In addition, Bobby has been responsible for implementing the new Clubs in Schools initiative, which has gained national attention for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. This new initiative serves more kids-more often by partnering with local school systems to offer ongoing educational support and an outstanding after school club experience.

Bobby provides overwhelming hands-on expertise and support to both for-profit and non-profit organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, The Steffen Thomas Museum, The Community Fund of Greater Atlanta, The Morgan Fund, After School All Stars, GA Alliance-Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Ferst Foundation, Georgia Family Connection, System Care of Georgia, The Madison- Morgan Chamber of Commerce, NAACP, Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Family and Children Services, BRAG and several private foundations.

Bobby and his wife Bridget have been married for almost 9 years and are raising their beautiful daughter Layla.
